Fangs for Nothing

Don't let the fangs fool you — this is just a toad having a very dramatic day. A warty toad wears a jaw lined with spiked, tooth-like ridges that make it look ready to breathe fire rather than snap up insects. Photographed in tight, dramatic macro against pure black, its huge glassy eyes and dragon-sharp grin blur the line between amphibian and mythical creature — a small, patient hunter dressed for a role several sizes too fierce.
