Punch Drunk

This crustacean did not get the memo about camouflage. A peacock mantis shrimp turns macro photography into a color riot — turquoise armor, golden joints, a red-rimmed raptorial claw built to smash prey, and two swiveling pink eyes that seem to track the camera. Shot in extreme close-up and mirrored into kaleidoscope symmetry, the sequence moves from full body to a single compound eye, all pattern, no mercy.
