Some paperwork bites back. Adrift in black water, this eel larva is little more than a ribbon of glass — a paper-thin, leaf-shaped body you can see clean through, veined like a sheet held up to the light. Then the camera turns and finds its face: a needle-toothed, wide-eyed predator built for snapping prey out of the dark, folded inside something this delicate.
