Five contestants, four vacancies — and the music just stopped. Five land hermit crabs, each tinted a different hue from coral red to lilac pink, circle four conch shells drawn into a neat ring on the sand. When the scramble ends, four of them have tucked safely inside their new shells, claws and antennae peeking out — but the blue-clawed hermit crab is left standing outside the circle, shell-less and very much the loser of this round.
