Some trees don't need animals to steal the show. Fourteen close studies of bark and branch, each trunk behaving like it was painted rather than grown. Deep red wood and bone-white limbs give way to curling papery bark, a mossy grey branch, and then trunk after trunk washed in impossible color — patchwork purples and teals, marbled greys, a full rainbow eucalyptus swirl — one knot even settling into the shape of a watchful eye before the sequence closes on quiet green moss.
