Twelve very small animals, all pretending to be something significantly more dangerous. Each of these caterpillars is running the same disguise: inflate the head, paint on a pair of oversized eyes, and hope a hungry bird mistakes a soft, defenseless grub for a viper. Hawk moth and swallowtail larvae make up the cast, no two patterns alike — mottled bark, warning orange, cartoon black-and-white pupils — and one pair even squares off nose to nose, as if the bluff needed a rehearsal partner.
