Something's Fishy

The colony found something washed up that wasn't quite a fish — and wasn't quite one of them either. Three adult Adélie penguins crowd around a sand sculpture shaped like a scaled fish, its tail curling off into the sand, while a downy chick pokes its head up right where the creature's face should be. The grown-ups lean in, beaks lowered and eyes huge, utterly unable to decide if their chick has been swallowed, transformed, or is just having a laugh at their expense.
