Geckos don't have eyelids, so they've made peace with the alternative. Lacking eyelids, crested geckos keep their eyes clean the only way they can — with their own tongue. Caught in tight, black-background close-up, this one grins wide and sweeps a long pink tongue clean across its right eyeball, then repeats the swipe on the left in the second frame. Equal parts practical hygiene and unshakeable good humor.
