Splitting the Difference

Some birds bring flowers to a truce. This one brings a full split. Two egrets face off in a lotus pond, beaks wide and voices raised, while a small striped bittern wedges itself squarely between their legs — feet spread in a full split, gripping one egret's leg in each foot. Whether referee or accidental tightrope walker, it holds its ground as the standoff plays out, turning a marsh squabble into something far funnier.
