Sunflower Stare

At first glance, this looks like a sunflower caught mid-bloom. Look closer and the petals are actually feathers — the wrinkled, radiant yellow eye-ring of a Bali myna, ringed with grey down and centered on one dark, glassy pupil. Pull back and the flower resolves into a full portrait: snowy crest, ink-black wingtips, coral feet gripping a bare branch. Sunflower Stare turns a single eye into a tiny botanical prank before letting the bird take the credit.
