Turns out the raccoon isn't the one who made this mess. A plump raccoon cradles a generous cluster of wild mushrooms in both paws, nibbling one stem with obvious care, its black-masked face caught in close-up mid-bite. Cut to the forest trail around it: recycling bins overflow, cans and wrappers carpet the ground, and plastic bags hang between the trees like grim bunting. The so-called trash panda, it turns out, forages far tidier than the people who left this behind.
