Knock Knock

Sometimes the door has a face of its own. What first reads as a tribal mask pressed into red clay is actually the truncated tip of a trapdoor spider's abdomen — a disc of ridged, leathery skin evolved to seal its burrow like a cork. Pull back far enough and the disguise breaks: eight legs, glossy fangs, and that same eerie carving revealed as living armor, camouflaged in plain sight against the very soil it calls home.
